Why hello
Hello! One more theme repeat for y’all this week (tis a pretty groovy travel mix!) then we’ll be back at the mic next week. I’m having a good break, but also missing it heaps!
I was lucky enough to be invited down to SYN Fm last night, a busy little hive of media related action, to join a discussion about the possibilities of multi-platform use in today’s broadcasting world. It was great to meet Ballarat-born luminary Bryce Ives, the fabulous Community Media Trainer Nicola Joseph and catch up with other presenters, friends new and old. More discussion and projects are in the pipeline so stay tuned! I’m particularly keen to get some more collaboration going between metro and regional stations so will keep you posted.
Anywho, looking forward to getting back into the studio on Australia Day- who needs the hottest 100 when you’ve got the Tinderbox?! Yes? yes?…
We’re off to Hobart tomorrow for Mona Foma Art Festival so will have lots to tell you about on our return.
But there’s lots happening in Ballarat too- the Organ Fest, Beer Fest (featuring Claire Bowditch, Stonefield, and Jordie Lane) and Saturday night at Karova is Paddy’s Night, a host of local talent celebrating a great champion of the scene who sadly passed away last year. Oh and don’t miss the amazing Elsworth St Ramblers there on Friday night!
Here’s the lovely Freya Hollick performing live on the ABC
Catch you soon! x
Happy 2012 Tinderboxers! Taking it easy for the first show back with some laid-back tunes and some artists coming out to Oz shortly like Feist, Erykah Badu, Bonnie Prince Billy, & Charles Bradley.
Don’t miss the Summer Sunday events coming up at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens over the next 3 Sundays with some great music like the Ballarat Ska Orchestra and Elsworth St Ramblers plus sweet desserts, oh yeah.
You can also check out some pics from the Artist Talk I did at Red Brick exhibition on Tuesday here, thanks to Aldona for taking them : ) Taking a couple of weeks off to finish thesis and pop over to Mona Foma in Tassie to see PJ Harvey, so excited (oh and Ballarat’s fabulous Tegan Lang shaking her groove thing at the festival club!). Take it easy and catch you soon.
